Privacy Policy
Effective September 23, 2026. Deletion instructions updated October 26, 2026.
This Privacy Policy explains how Meal of Fortune collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the mobile application and related services.
1. Information we process
- Account information: your email address, nickname, password credential, account identifiers, optional profile photo, authentication provider, and verification data.
- Invitations: if you use an invite link or code, we record the relationship between the inviting account and the new account, whether onboarding and policy acceptance were completed, and any AI usage reset granted. We use this to deliver the invitation reward and prevent duplicate rewards.
- Content you provide: recipes, recipe titles and descriptions, cooking steps, ingredient selections and measurements, photos, shakes, likes, saved recipes, reports, and other content or actions you choose to submit.
- Social sign-in information: when you use Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple, we receive the provider account identifier and the email address and profile information that the provider makes available to us. Apple may provide a private relay email address.
- Technical and security information: app version, platform, device or session identifiers, IP address where needed for security, diagnostic information, request logs, and information used to prevent abuse and keep your account signed in.
- Analytics information: Firebase Analytics may process app-instance and device information together with events such as screen views and interactions with app features. We use this information to understand aggregate usage and improve the product.
- AI and moderation inputs: selected ingredients may be sent for AI recipe generation. Recipe titles, descriptions, steps, and uploaded recipe photos may be processed when you publish a recipe so that unsafe content can be detected.
- Precise location: if you allow it while finding ingredients nearby, the app uses your current coordinates on your device to open a local search in Google Maps. The coordinates are not sent to Meal of Fortune servers or saved in your account. They are passed to Google Maps when you choose to open a map.
2. How we use information
We use information to create and authenticate accounts, provide recipe and community features, generate requested AI recipe drafts, moderate published content, personalize your experience, respond to support and usage requests, maintain security, diagnose failures, and improve the reliability and usability of Meal of Fortune. We do not sell your personal information.
3. Legal bases where applicable
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we process information as needed to provide the service you request, with your consent where required, for legitimate interests such as security and product improvement, and to comply with legal obligations.
4. Sharing and service providers
We disclose information only as needed to operate the service, protect users, comply with law, or with your direction. Providers may include cloud hosting and database services, email delivery, Google and Apple authentication, Firebase Analytics, and OpenAI services used for AI Chef and content moderation. These providers process information for the relevant service under their applicable terms and safeguards.
Published recipes, their photos, your nickname, profile photo, and related interaction counts are visible to other users. Draft recipes remain private unless you publish them.
5. AI Chef disclaimer
AI Chef output is generated automatically and may be incomplete, inaccurate, unsuitable, or unsafe for a particular person. It is a creative suggestion, not medical, dietary, nutritional, or professional food-safety advice. Before preparing or consuming a generated recipe, verify the ingredients, allergens, dietary restrictions, quantities, cooking methods, safe temperatures, and doneness yourself. You decide whether to use an AI-generated recipe and remain responsible for how you prepare and consume food.
Automated moderation can also make mistakes. If you believe content was rejected incorrectly, contact us using the address below.
6. Retention and deletion
We retain account and content information while your account is active and for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, maintain security, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. You can delete drafts and published recipes in the app. You can permanently delete your account and associated personal information from the Profile screen. Limited records may be retained when required for fraud prevention, security, or legal compliance.
You can also request account and associated data deletion at our deletion request page, without signing in or reinstalling the app. You can request specific personal data to be removed while keeping your account. We verify ownership before making changes and process verified requests within 30 days.
The deletion request collects your account email, request type and optional details. It is visible only to authorised support staff. Request correspondence is automatically removed 30 days after the case is closed. If a specific record must be retained for legal, security or fraud-prevention reasons, we explain the record, reason and retention period in our response. We also address deletion with service providers where required.
Ready to make a request?
You can manage your data even
without the app.
7. Your choices and rights
You can update your nickname, email address, password, and profile photo in the app; remove your content; revoke Google or Apple access in the corresponding provider settings; or delete your account. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability of your personal information.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. However, no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
9. Children
Meal of Fortune is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where local law requires it. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate permission, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where required.
10. International processing
Service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will publish the revised version with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required.
